Elliott Levin & Helen Gillet (w/ Rex Gregory & Dave Cappello)

Cello sorceress Helen Gillet (from Belgium and Singapore via Chicago & New Orleans) joins Philadelphia titan Elliott Levin for a unique evening of sound-sculpture presented by scatterjazz.

     Rounding out the quartet will be woodwind-wizard Rex Gregory (recently moved back from Seattle), and the rarely-seen trap-drum artistry of Dave Cappello (a regular collaborator with Elliott Levin in late 70s-early 80s New York City's "downtown" scene, so this gig will be a "reunion" of sorts...)

      Elliott Levin has been a fixture on the Philadelphia and international creative-sound scenes since the early 70s.  His axes are saxes & flutes (and occasional poetry...). He was a member of Cecil Taylor's band across three decades, and a longtime collaborator with heavyweights such as Marshall Allen, Jamaldeen Tacuma, Dennis Gonzalez & Sons, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, etc... Elliott Levin is a great artist and a swell cat, a very powerful exemplar of true "fire music"... Please DO come make him welcome!

  • The showtime listed for the event is the time the event starts. Doors will generally open an hour before the listed show time unless otherwise listed.
      We allow pets during the day, but not at night for music (anything after 7pm). Service animals are always allowed.
     
  •  Please do not park in the Broad Theater parking lot. We have a parking lot for  The Broadside and plenty street parking available on Toulouse and Lafitte. If you would like to be escorted to your car, please ask the Sheriff on duty. You may also park in the Auto Zone parking lot if they are closed. 
  •  We have a variety of seating options such as benches, picnic tables, chairs, and stools. You are welcome to bring your own chairs, if you require a seat for health reasons or disability, please ask a staff member and they can provide you with a chair.
