Description

Al Dente: The Design of Pasta explores the Italian culinary innovation of pasta, likened by food historians to a cultural renaissance, and it inspects the ways in which making, cooking, and eating pasta serve as acts of design. The exhibition spans the evolution of pasta, looking to the past as it explores traditional tools used to craft pasta by hand and demonstrating the impact of industrialization which introduced new shapes like penne and radiatori. It also looks to the future, asking whether it is possible to design an entirely new pasta shape in the 21st century, how technological advances are impacting pasta, and how we can document and preserve traditional pasta-making processes.
