Experience the transformative power of textile art in THREADS of CHANGE an exhibition that explores the intricate connection between humanity and the natural world. By translating scientific data into striking textile installations, this exhibition brings vital environmental issues to life, inspiring action and fostering a deeper understanding of our planet. Discover works that highlight the beauty and fragility of the Earth, including:

  • Crochet Coral Reef by Margaret and Christine Wertheim: A stunning representation of ocean ecosystems under threat.
  • Black Gold Tapestry by Sandra Sawatzky: A detailed visual narrative tracing humanity’s complex relationship with oil.
  • Knitted Brains 1 and 2 by Karen Norberg: A creative depiction of human neurology in textile form.
  • Net-Work by Adrian Baker: A reflection on the interconnectedness of life through fiber art.
  • Geoscience Embroideries by Bonnie Peterson: Vibrant works that translate climate and geoscience data into tangible art.

  • Tempestries by the Knit Wits from North Decatur Presbyterian Church: The Tempestry Project is a global initiative that uses hand-knit or crocheted temperature data to create visual representations of climate change, turning temperature records into beautiful, personalized works of art.
