Description

Class description:  Diane will share the traditional design structures of Telemark Rosemaling. There will be discussions about what the rosemaling masters did and how you can emulate it in your rosemaling, while being creative in execution. Students will participate in creative Telemark rosemaling exercises and have the option to receive feedback on their work from the instructor. The class will take place over three consecutive Mondays - April 17, 24, and May 1 at 7pm-9pm Central.

Medium being used :  Oils

Other mediums allowed: Acrylics welcome

 

Surface: Participants should select a flat surface for design work and painting. Choose painted paper, canvas board or wood choices such as plaques or plates.

 

Supplies:   See attached.

 

Note about supplies: The class fee does not include the cost of supplies and is the responsiblity of the student. If the instructor is sending supplies, the cost and details will be included in this section.

 

Instructor: Diane Edwards, MA

 

Instructor biography: I have been teaching in art schools, decorative painter classes, Rosemaling and Swedish painting classes for more than 30 years.  Through the years have not only studied with many Norwegian and American Telemark artists and have written several books in the Telemark style including one with Sigmund Aarseth and published the art of Marlys Hammer.

 

Location:  This is an online class hosted on Zoom.  All technical requirements needed to join the class are the responsibility of the student. RCC virtual classes will not be recorded. All classes are listed in the Central time zone.

Rosemaling Coast to Coast, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized to celebrate the art of Norwegian rosemaling through a national organization that supports and enriches the artistic activities of the individual. Members study, paint, teach, and promote the love of rosemaling. The skillset is broad, from beginners to highly-skilled, award-winning artists.
