Description
“EYE-II-EYE: iPhonetography for Artists” is an introductory workshop for artists who would like to explore and realize a suitable documentation of their artwork using a phone-based camera. This is an ideal class for those who are new to making intentional images with their phones, all the way to those who have a system and practice, and would like to build upon the basics.
Participants are invited to bring their phones to the space, and we will spend time going through some simple considerations for different types of work. You will have a chance to share and review some of your own images, and navigate through a couple big obstacles in your current documentation practice. Finally, we will troubleshoot through how we can shape a workflow of observation and consideration, and how best to think about using a phone’s camera to better document our work.
What to expect:
10:00 am - noon: Instruction, discussion of best practices
noon - 1:00 pm Catered lunch (included in ticket price)
1:00 - 3:00 pm: Demonstrations, image "show-and-tell," hands on practice
c. bay will also be offering one-on-one or small group technical assistance sessions the day following this workshop, on Tuesday, October 21st. Click here to learn more and sign up!
About c. bay milin:
A graduate from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, with a Masters of Professional Studies in digital photography, I am originally from the SF Bay Area, and currently reside in Durham, NC.
I love following my curiosities and treat photography as a memory-holder, as an idea palace, as therapy, and as healer. I aim to create work which peers behind the scenes of our place in the world, and revel in seeking out observations of the desire or conflict in the balance between all things.
Personal interests include meandering through flea markets, overheard conversations, and all manner of pancakes.
