Striving to produce an exceptional intimate theatre adventure.
Like any theatre company, we started with a desire to tell a story. With the help of California Stage and a few friends, that desire was met...and Resurrection Theatre Company was born. As the years have passed, a vast bastion of local talent has come into this company, leaving their marks with their performances, lighting, designs, direction, and devotion to the shared human experience of theatre. The love and energy of these people allowed us to present wonderful works of art.
AND WE STILL HAVE STORIES TO TELL.
Description
An Original play by Sacramento Playwright Matt Hanf
The salmon runs are drying up. The small town of Quissquitawna (population: 6) is dying. Paul, a fishing guide, is at war with the mayor, sheriff, game warden, and head of the Lions Club, all of whom happen to be his sister Gina, over how to bring back clients and fish to this small Canadian fishing village...and neither one is winning.
That is, until his estranged daughter Jill shows up, and in a disastrous combination of alcohol and autocorrect, tweets about a miracle that was performed at the fishing village...and not just any miracle: a sighting of the Virgin Mary followed by a healing. And before anyone can say, ”I drunk texted what,” a dying woman and an inspector from the Vatican arrive, both expecting to witness a miracle. With the help of Edna (the local bear hunter and arms enthusiast), they stumble through a half-baked scheme…and that’s when most miracles take place—somewhere between truth and desperation.
