The Cape Fear Bonsai Society, established in 2001, is a group that meets monthly to study and practice the art of Bonsai.
The club has an active program of training through workshops, guest speakers, and a sharing of Bonsai expertise. Membership is open to both the novice and the more experienced practitioner of Bonsai.

Featured Bonsai Display Calender
One of the great traditions of bonsai exhibition is the tokonoma—a thoughtfully composed display where a bonsai is presented with complementary elements to express season, balance, and feeling.
Inspired by this tradition, the Cape Fear Bonsai Society features one member bonsai display at each monthly meeting. By reserving a meeting, you'll create the featured display for the club using one of your bonsai and whatever complementary elements you choose.
Creating Your Display
Your featured display will center on one of your bonsai. It may be as simple as a bonsai paired with an accent plant, or it may include additional elements such as a display stand, scroll, viewing stone, or other thoughtfully selected companion pieces.
The goal isn't perfection—it's sharing bonsai, refining your presentation skills, and inspiring fellow members through the art of display.
If you don't have every display component, don't let that stop you. Club display materials—including our Japanese screen and black display cloth—are available, and members are often happy to loan stands, accent plants, scrolls, or other display elements.
What to Expect
As the featured exhibitor, you'll bring your display to the meeting, help set it up before the program begins, and take it home afterward. Your display will be enjoyed by members throughout the meeting and will encourage conversation, appreciation, and learning.
We encourage members of all experience levels to participate. Every display is an opportunity to develop your exhibition skills, receive feedback, and share your bonsai with the club.
