Coastal Marine Lab and Seacoast Science Center Tour
You will be picked up by the UNH research vessel, Gulf Challenger, and taken on a tour of the scenic Portsmouth Harbor where you will see and learn about the harbors rich history. The Gulf Challenger will dock at the Judd Gregg Marine Research Complex in New Castle, NH for a tour of the complex and to learn about the various ongoing research projects happening at UNH. You will then be transported to the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH where you will have the opportunity to tour the center, learn about our local ecosystem and animals, and even poke around in the tide pools!

Portsmouth Brewery Tour
Join the brewmaster of the UNH Brewery (yes UNH has a brewery!) on a walking tour of craft beer around Portsmouth, NH. Cheryl Parker will take you to 3 local craft breweries on the West End of Portsmouth where you will sample a favorite beer of the brewer, hear about their operation, and have a chance to order more beer while we chat about everything from beer science, to local history. We'll even pass by the Fran Jones Brewyard, which was the biggest ale producer before prohibition as well as talk about the modern beer scene, including the brewery, courses, and analysis lab at UNH!
We will be taking a van from the hotel to the West End and back. Cheryl will also point out the two other breweries in downtown Portsmouth and their history, both great places to end your tour with lunch or dinner.

Benthic Ecology Meeting

The Benthic Ecology Meeting Society (BEMS) is a non-profit organization established to run a yearly meeting to exchange scientific information focusing on marine benthic ecosystems (e.g., rocky intertidal, coral reef) and to foster the next generation of benthic biologists. The mission of the BEMS is to promote research in benthic ecosystems, support the exchange of information about benthic ecology, and encourage student participation to develop the next generation of benthic ecologists. BEMS is organized exclusively for educational and scientific purposes. Membership in the BEMS is conferred through attending a yearly meeting. Meetings attract both national and international participants.
