Fighting Antizionism Is The Civil Rights Issue of Our Time

  • June 10, 2026 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Eastern Daylight Time

Description

There's been a troubling trend over the last few years -- an effort to separate antisemitism from antizionism. Why is this a problem and who should be concerned?

In this online event, president and founder of the Legal Insurrection Foundation (LIF), Professor William Jacobson, director of FDD's Program on Education and National Security, Brandy Shufutinksy, and Professor of Philosophy at Connecticut College, Professor Andrew Pessin will engage in a live discussion to flesh out the origins of this thinking, trends we're seeing, and ultimately, what can be done to mitigate the problem.

The event will be hosted by Kemberlee Kaye, Managing Director of LIF.

More about our panelists:

William A. Jacobson is a Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Securities Law Clinic at Cornell Law School. He is a 1981 graduate of Hamilton College and a 1984 graduate of Harvard Law School. Prior to joining the Cornell law faculty in 2007, Professor Jacobson practiced law in New York City (1985-1993) and Providence, Rhode Island (1994-2006). A more complete listing of Professor Jacobson’s professional background is available at the Cornell Law School website.

Professor Jacobson was the founder of Legal Insurrection website in 2008.

Brandy Shufutinsky serves as director of FDD's Program on Education and National Security. She has been published in Newsweek, Jewish Journal, the New York Post, The Jerusalem Post, Sapir, White Rose Magazine, and JNS. Brandy holds her doctorate in international and multicultural education from the University of San Francisco, her MSW from the University of Southern California, and her M.A. in international relations from the University of San Diego.

Andrew Pessin is Professor of Philosophy at Connecticut College, former Campus Bureau Editor for The Algemeiner, and Founding Director of the Institute for the Critical Study of Antizionism. His recent books include Israel Breathes, World Condemns (2 vols.); Refuting the Lies Told About IsraelAnti-Zionism on Campus: The University, Free Speech, and BDS; and Poisoning the Wells: Antisemitism in America. His articles address many aspects of the campus environment for Jews and for Israel supporters, including the question of whether antizionism is antisemitism (the short answer is yes). He has also published four novels, including Nevergreen (2021), an academic satire about campus cancel culture and its harmful effects on the Jews which, unfortunately, proved prophetic after the October 7 massacre. He enjoyed some moments of fame portraying “The Genius” on the former Late Show with David Letterman. Legal Insurrection Foundation

Legal Insurrection Foundation – Who We Are

Legal Insurrection Foundation (LIF) is one of the leading free speech investigative and media organizations in the country. We research and report on the most important issues facing our country, whether on school campuses, universities, businesses, or government. We also advocate for and walk alongside individuals who are at the epicenter of free speech attacks, shining light on attempts to cancel dissidents.

In early 2021, we launched the website, Critical Race Training In Education (CriticalRace.org), with one-of-a-kind interactive maps and databases of CRT in colleges and universities, medical schools, military service academies, and elite K-12 private schools. The website is the most comprehensive tool available on the subject and has been covered by nearly 100 media outlets. More importantly, there have been over seven million user actions on the website: proof that CriticalRace.org has become an essential tool for parents, students, alumni, and others concerned with the spread of Critical Race-related educational mandates.

The Equal Protection Project (EPP) is a project of the Legal Insurrection Foundation (LIF), was launched in February of 2023. EPP is devoted to the fair treatment of all persons without regard to race or ethnicity. Our guiding principle is that there is no ‘good’ form of racism. The remedy for racism never is more racism. We have filed numerous complaints against entities who openly discriminate against individuals based on race and ethnicity. Our work here has only just begun.

LIF is now recognized as a leader in the parents’ rights movement and has lectured hundreds of state legislators on the problems in education from “woke” indoctrination, and what they can do about it. We are frequent speakers at conferences and in the media on how the harm inflicted through radical ideologies is a threat not only to our students, but to our nation, turning young people against both their parents and their country. We continue to provide informative and educational programming on a variety of topics related to campus free speech, academic freedom, and education.

We have a dedicated audience of readers who welcome our reporting as a counterforce to the bias of mainstream media. Today, the LIF blog brings in an average of 500,000 unique readers and over 1.8 million page views every single month. Our flagship blog is widely recognized as one of the leading conservative free speech websites, and is linked to and cited by other national media outlets daily.

LIF has a fourteen-year history of exposing free speech opponents’ attempts to reshape our country – and then of keeping the pressure on, covering stories the mainstream media won’t. Our relentless pursuit of the truth gives news organizations, elected officials, and activists the ammunition to stop harmful plans in their tracks.
