Description
Fire Keeper training will be led by Mike Chenger Dances with Mountains. Mike has spent the last several years studying under his Elders in Huichol and Cree traditions with the spirit of Grandfather Fire. This will be an opportunity to deepen your relationship and understanding of the spirit of fire. You will also learn traditional protocols that have been passed down and gifted to Mike to offer in service to the community.
You will commence the relationship with three sacred fires that will include chopping the rooted ones (firewood), smudging of the land and each other, prayer, and understanding traditional medicine uses. Additional information will include appropriate attire, axe skills, and safety protocols around a fire.
The fires will take place at a private residence in Summerland, BC. The address will be sent out to those who register for the training.
Fire 1: Thursday October 13th, 2022 @ 7:00pm
Fire 2: Friday October 14th, 2022 @ 7:00pm
Fire 3: Saturday October 15th, 2022 @ 12:00pm
It is customary to make an offering to the fire keeper (Mike) of tobacco as well as a monetary donation. Suggested amount is $150 total. This is not meant to burden anyone so whatever is feasible for you is appreciated.
