FlopTV is a season of SIX MONTHLY VIDEO LIVE STREAMS, featuring your favorite bad movie podcasters in home-brew TV show form! Tune in on the first Saturday of each month at 9pm Eastern / 6pm Pacific, from September 2026 to February 2027, to see us broadcasting live with all-new bad movie shenanigans!
This is our FOURTH season of Flop TV, and we’re mixing it up a bit! This season, we’re presenting THE WORST OF THE BEST! The Academy Awards have spent decades promoting cinema by turning art into something America understands – sports! But are the “Best Pictures” really the best? Of course not! We’ll revisit some of the winners that history has deemed least deserving, most controversial, or just interesting to discuss! If nothing else, our final judgments average of “movies we kinda liked” will probably kick up by a notch or two!
You can purchase individual show tix for $7, or a discounted $35 for the WHOLE SEASON (plus fees), which is like getting one episode for free!
If you can’t watch live, your ticket also gets you access to an on-demand recording, so if you want to catch up later, you can get a season pass and get access to all you missed! This access is exclusive to ticket holders. Recording link will be e-mailed to you the day after the live show, and the shows will ALL stay available on-demand until the end of the Flop TV season (end of February 2026).
And, of course, every episode will be sprinkled with little video surprises that will have you saying “thank you for reinventing the late night talk show, a previously-common TV format that the modern world seems intent on destroying!”

Saturday, September 5 – GREEN BOOK (2018, 91st Oscars) - We kick off with our most recent and one of the most controversial winners! Director/co-writer Peter Farrelly put down “The Big Book of Diarrhea Jokes” to take on America’s racial divide and divided critics in the process. Was it just a swapped Driving Miss Daisy for a new millennium? With a Metacritic score of 69, it’s the film Spike Lee said “Wasn’t my cup of tea!”
Saturday, October 3 – THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH (1952, 25th Oscars) - From our most recent movie to our earliest, and the one widely cited as the weakest Best Picture winner overall (despite a robust 76 on Metacritic)! Many say this circus extravaganza only won because of anti-communist fervor and as a career-capping award for Cecil B. DeMille. But, hey – its train crash sequence inspired a young Steven Spielberg’s obsession with movies!
Saturday, November 7 – GLADIATOR (2000, 73rd Oscars) - What? Gladiator?! Isn’t it beloved? Have we gone mad?!? Well, imaginary outraged viewer, it’s got 67 on Metacritic, lower than Green Book! While many found it to be old-fashioned epic fun, others thought it was maximus ponderous! Is it a popular triumph, or just your basic revenge movie tarted up in old Roman garb? We’ll be the ones to judge!
Saturday, December 5 – CRASH (2004, 78th Oscars) - Yet another Best Picture winner that ended racism forever, Paul Haggis’s Crash is nearly as controversial as the offal-and-oatmeal dish that shares his last name, with a mere 66 on Metacritic. Roger Ebert made it his top film of the year! Ta-Nehisi Coates called it “the worst film of the decade!” Dave Matthews wrote a song about it! Maybe we’re getting confused with that last one. Anyway, we’ll talk about it!
Saturday, January 2 – AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (1956, 29th Oscars) - A cavalcade of stars, but only a 69 Metacritic score, this star-studded globetrotting telling of Phileas Fogg’s circumnavigatory race around the world might not be one of the better Oscar-winners, but there are such large portions! We’ll torture ourselves with all three hours and then discuss!
Saturday, February 6 – OUT OF AFRICA (1985, 58th Oscars) - We end with the picture that inspired this season of Flop TV! As kids of the 80s we’d heard of Out of Africa, but none of us have ever seen it, and we’re all kind of baffled by its lack of any cultural footprint. We don’t even know if it’s BAD or not (though it has a 69 on Metacritic). All we know is Robert Redford and Meryl Streep are in it and it’s another test of butt endurance at 3 hours long. But at least Rotten Tomatoes says it has “glacial pacing.” Uh-oh!
