Description

Join us at the Fitzherbert Centre for a Beacon Event celebrating the Food Use Places Project and the power of community partnerships.

This event brings together The Real Junk Food Project Brighton and Brighton Table Tennis Club to showcase how working together can strengthen communities, reduce food waste, and create opportunities for people of all ages.

The Real Junk Food Project transforms surplus food that would otherwise go to waste into nutritious meals for the community, while Brighton Table Tennis Club provides an inclusive space where sport brings people together, improves wellbeing, and builds confidence. Together, the two organisations demonstrate how food, physical activity, and community connection can make a lasting difference.

A highlight of this partnership is their after-school club, where young people come together to play table tennis, develop cooking skills using surplus ingredients, and enjoy a shared meal with their families. Through these sessions, participants learn about healthy eating, reducing food waste, teamwork, and the importance of community, all in a fun and supportive environment.

Join us for a game of table tennis, share a meal, and discover how these and other Food Use Place partners are creating positive change, celebrating the achievements of the project and partnership collaboration.

Whether you're a local resident, community organisation, partner, volunteer, or simply interested in sustainable food and community wellbeing, we'd love to welcome you.

Together we're proving that good food should never go to waste, sport is for everyone, and strong partnerships create stronger communities.
