Description

This Jane’s Walk, taking place in Cabbagetown, focuses on themes of Art & Architecture.

Join Curtis Jackson, the visionary Team Lead of the Krog Codex Archive, for an enlightening tour of "the Cabbagetown Arts Ecosystem," a vibrant collection of public art that spans a dynamic one-mile stretch of Wylie Street. This captivating stretch features a diverse array of interconnected artworks that embody collaboration and synergy with the surrounding neighborhood. Throughout the tour, you will delve into the significance of these creative expressions and see firsthand how they enhance and enrich the community. Curtis will share insights on the profound impact this ecosystem has on the neighborhood, demonstrating its value beyond mere aesthetics. Experience the four pivotal segments of art: the striking Reynoldstown Style Writing murals, the powerful Forward Warrior murals, the engaging Stacks Squares, and the iconic Krog Street Tunnel. As you explore, you’ll uncover the rich history of the tunnel and gain a deeper understanding of the flourishing local art scene.

About the Walk Leader

Curtis Jackson is a current GSU History PhD candidate who has led the Krog Codex Archive for five years. His areas of study include American youth culture history, urban history, and media/cultural studies. The Krog Codex aligns with his research interests, serving as a digital archive dedicated to the Krog Street Tunnel and its immediate surroundings. The archive focuses on preserving the art, history, and culture of the tunnel for both scholarly work and public interest. As part of their public outreach, Jackson and his team have conducted several tours of the site, including last year's Jane's Walk. They are eager to continue providing public tours to generate interest in the site, its culture, and the archive itself.
