The Parlor Room School of Music Presents
Foundations of Clawhammer Banjo Workshop and Slow Jam w/ Chris Freeman
at The Parlor Room
Monday, March 6
6pm - 7:30pm
TICKETS: $30 GA / $20 MEMBERS
Join this small group as we explore the beginnings of the clawhammer style. Clawhammer is a strumming hand technique commonly used in old time banjo. We will learn the basic strum, some chords in basic tunings and take a look at a few simple fiddle tunes arranged for clawhammer banjo. Then we will move into a slow jam where we can practice the clawhammer techniques by slowly playing through a repertoire of songs. Contact email@example.com with any questions.
FYI - Clawhammer style can be learned on other instruments than just banjo. Guitar and ukulele are also great candidates to learn this strumming technique and would be welcome in the class.
Chris Freeman is a singer/songwriter and banjo player who also happens to be the Executive Director and Artistic Director of The Parlor Room. He performs solo under the name FREEMANN and is also a member of the band Parsonsfield.
