Description

Step into Friday Night Lights: Purim Edition, an interactive, come as you are Shabbat at Glazer Campus. Start with wine and light bites, settle in for music that will uplift and Shabbat candle lighting, then choose how you want to make Shabbat happen, with Purim inspired breakout experiences for adults and children alike.

In a world that rarely stops, Shabbat offers an ancient technology for coming home to yourself, to community, and to what matters. As Ahad Ha’am taught, more than the Jewish people have kept Shabbat, Shabbat has kept the Jewish people.

Evening Schedule
Join Rabbi Leah Lewis and Rabbi Joel Nickerson together with Cantorial Soloist Ian Simpson

5:00–6:00 PM | Casual Arrivals & Pre-Neg
Wine, light bites, pizza, music, and time to shmooze. During arrivals, help assemble mishloach manot baskets using items from Shemesh Farms, a Jewish nonprofit farm run by adults with special needs.

6:00–6:30 PM | Music-Forward Kabbalat Shabbat
Take in the traditional yet contemporary music of the psalms to ease the transition into Shabbat, including the lighting of the Shabbat candles.

6:30–7:15 PM | Shabbat Experiences (Purim Edition)

Choose from a variety of sessions that will allow you to get the most out of Shabbat in a way that speaks to you, this time, with Purim-inspired experiences for adults and children alike.

Select the experience that speaks to you:

  • Too Jewish To Be Serious: A session in stand-up comedy (with Dan Lerman, comedian, writer, psychologist and temple member)

  • The Whole Megillah: A traditional Shabbat evening service, including the Mourner's Kaddish (with Rabbinic Intern Ben Poor and Daniel Raijman)
