FOLLOWED BY A TALKBACK WITH THE CAST AND PLAYWRIGHT

This dramatized reading of the official stage play adaptation of Tom Holland’s Fright Night, will close out The Rage of the Stage Players’ 24th year and serve as a fundraising event for our landmark 25th Anniversary in 2026. The event will also celebrate the original 1985 film’s 40th Anniversary, and October 5, the date of the reading, is the same date the play celebrated its world premiere in 2018!

A painstakingly adapted “love letter” to the source material, written and directed for the stage by Pittsburgh playwright (and die-hard fan) James Michael Shoberg, Fright Night celebrated its world premiere on October 5, 2018, produced by The Rage of the Stage Players. It’s a faithful representation of the cult film (brimming with “Easter eggs”), and, like every Rage production, it contains new twists and turns while staying true to the spirit of the original, which has made it just as new to horror fanatics as it’s been to Fright Night newcomers! Since the play’s debut, Fright Night has gone on to be produced both nationally and internationally.

This live, in-person dramatized reading of the stage script, will be performed by many of the actors who originated their roles in the play’s inaugural production (some even returning from out of state for the event), and will give audience members who didn’t attend its premiere, a second-chance to experience it for themselves!

After the performance, the audience will get the rare opportunity to participate in a talkback with the cast and playwright, to ask questions and hear stories about the original production and many of the cast members’ ongoing connection to the Fright Night legacy.

The Rage of the Stage Players

The Rage of the Stage Players are an educational collective of artists from various disciplines, whose mission it is to entertain mature audiences by presenting original works of an alternative nature (black comedy, fantasy, horror, etc.) and reimagining established works in uniquely conceptualized ways.

The Rage of the Stage Players extend the opportunity to anyone in the community, 18 years of age or older, who wishes to apply an artistic skill in a theatrical setting.

We strive to satisfy darker tastes in art and have thus developed a fan base composed of those who seek it. To that end, The Rage of the Stage Players welcome any support in our endeavor to keep such entertainment alive.
