Description
Cesar Becerra will take us to Everglades City and Chokoloskee Island, promoted as part of our Mary Brickell Foundation launch since the Smallwood Trading Post is the last identical remnant of the Brickell Trading Post. We shall start this 4 hour walking tour at the old Barron Collier Railroad Depot, which was the setting of the opening scene in the 1958 classic, Wind Across the Everglades next to the Captains Table Hotel in the hidden gem that is Everglades City. Volunteer ride sharing drivers will meet early to park cars at the new Everglades National Park Marjory Stoneman Douglas Visitor Center so that we can hopscotch at that time to Chokoloskee Island 6 miles away and continue our tour with an amazing cherry on top. That is the last remaining still intact Smallwood store, an almost identical copy of the Brickell and Stranahan Trading Post. There is admission to the Smallwood store.
