About Future Footwerk
Future Footwerk is a dance party celebrating footwork, a Chicago-born electronic dance music style characterized by its blindingly fast 160BPM and rapid rhythms that make you wanna dance! This party brings Chicago to Durham with a look toward the future–expanding the footwork sound as a Black electronic tradition.
Future Footwerk is a collaborative partnership between Sonic Essence and ROBOTICALEE that follows in the footsteps of Detroit-Durham Connection and Booty Break (our ghettotech series), two series that uplift and celebrate the contributions of Black music pioneers that laid the groundwork for the international electronic music scene we hold dear today.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS AND ORGANIZERS
Aumnï is an artist based in Charlotte NC. Pulling inspiration from footwork, jungle, acid and left-field techno, Aumnï crafts restless, bass-driven sets that slip between intensity and atmosphere hitting both the body and brain
Bringing a high energy release to every dancefloor they grace, BABY COUSIN TAY TAY is a queer black DJ and producer from Southeast Texas based in Asheville, NC. Influences from Black American innovation in music blended with wider spread diasporic sounds of the East and global South inspire them to find intersections and gentle balances within various subgenres, giving you a hard and soft triple Libra experience to sink and sweat into!
Dymira Decadent AKA KONDE is a Raleigh based DJ that blends an eccentric mix of ghettotech, footwork, juke, bounce, southern bass, jungle, vgm, and more! Work your legs as you dance to a groove that’s always colorful, fun, and high energy.
dj roselle is the alternate ego of asheville artist Mike Holmes, aka nostalgianoid. dj roselle functions as an entity that coalesces various genres of afro-diasporic music into sets that highlight the interconnectivity of these sounds regardless of their national origin while also questioning the western notion of the linearity of time. What blooms from this approach is a frenzy of percussive and sonic energy that compels blissful audiences to shake their ass.
ROBOTICALEE is a Black transmasculine DJ & self-proclaimed cyborg currently based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He found his love for DJing through footwork and, subsequently, electronic dance music of the Black diaspora. His mixes are sonic collections of bouncing, speedy, & often wacky blends that aim to continue the Black electronic sound forever!
Sonic Essence is a QTBIPOC-led music collective based in Durham, North Carolina. Rooted in community, we curate dance-floor–driven experiences that center Black and Brown electronic lineages and create space for radical free expression, embodied release, and connection. Founded in 2022, we are known for high-energy, body-forward experiences that cultivate collective joy.
