It's every gardener's bane: creepy-crawlies wreaking havoc on our gardens, with no end in sight. But what if they're not all bad? Join us as Master Gardener and bug expert Penny Esplin walks us through all sorts of backyard bugs you may find in your garden and what benefits they can provide. Our gardens are habitats for many, including the smallest six-legged ones among us.

The Oregon State University Extension Master Gardener™ program educates Oregonians about the art and science of growing and caring for plants. They are in 27 counties across the state, and train thousands of Master Gardener volunteers. OSU Extension Master Gardeners are volunteer educators, neighbors, and on-the-ground researchers who serve their community with solid training in science-based, sustainable gardening and a love of lifelong learning. Learn more about their work here:

The Oregon Garden's Garden University program offers ongoing adult education opportunities on topics in alignment with the Garden's mission, such as pruning, beekeeping, cooking, floristry and more. Oregon Garden members receive free admission to Garden University lectures and a discount on workshop tickets. Visit for upcoming events.
