The International Club of DC, in collaboration with the University Club of Washington, D.C., invites you to a magnificent Gatsby Ball at one of the city’s most storied and exclusive private institutions—a landmark celebrated for its refined elegance and timeless grandeur. Space is limited, so please reserve your tickets early.
The night begins with swing dance lessons, held in the ballroom of the University Club where we bring to life the spirit of the Roaring Twenties. A partner or prior dance experience is not needed to attend. We’ll have you swing dancing, even if you’ve never danced before!
As the evening unfolds, a live band fills the ballroom with the vibrant energy of jazz and big-band classics. Dance the night away as the music echoes through stately rooms that have hosted a century of distinguished gatherings. Meet new friends and enjoy drinks available for purchase at the cash bar as the celebration continues.
The Gatsby Ball is also a rare and delightful chance to mingle with both International Club of DC members and members of the University Club, creating an atmosphere alive with conversation, connection, and the warmth of a shared celebration at the start of a new year.

About the University Club of Washington
Just three blocks from the White House, the University Club stands as a jewel of Washington society. Built in 1921 and lovingly known as the “Mansion on Sixteenth Street,” its red-brick and brownstone façade, classical-revival architecture, and gracious circular drive evoke all the sophistication and charm of the Jazz Age. Inside, richly paneled rooms, sweeping staircases, and historic salons create an atmosphere that feels tailor-made for a night of 1920s glamour.

👗 What should I wear?
Cocktail attire recommended. Vintage-inspired dressy attire encouraged! Guests are encouraged to come dressed in vintage or vintage-inspired attire to match the spirit of the night! From swing skirts and suspenders to classic cocktail dresses and bow ties, have fun dressing the part or simply join us as you are.
