Description

Geordie’s quizmaster is back to host a fan favourite – Trivia Nights!

Gather your friends and family for a night that is no work and all play! Geordie’s Trivia Nights are the perfect evening for you to relax and enjoy playful rounds of questions on general (and sometimes very specific) knowledge. Spend time in the community from home – and support a great cause.

The Board of Directors of Geordie Theatre is pleased to invite you to a new edition of Geordie Trivia Nights. The events, taking place online, feature five rounds of 10 questions per game. The quizmaster, Board President Brett Hooton, presents all questions, sound cues, and images via Zoom. Questions cover basic science, world history, pop music, classic superheroes, Canadian Theatre and much more. We aim to make questions accessible to a wide range of players, from children (ages 8 and up) to the young-at-heart, and from university professors to causal Jeopardy viewers – so stack your teams! And there will be prizes for the highest scoring squads, both at individual events and for the series champions!

Now let’s check out the rules:

You register your team of four to six members. Throughout the game you submit answers via Google Forms. No team to compete with but still want to play? Sign up individually and we will do our best to match you up with other players or compete as a team of one. While the main room is muted during the answer period, you can connect with your team separately (via phone, Google Meet, Facetime, WhatsApp, etc.) to discuss responses among your team if you are not in the same location. (So be sure to connect and check your internal communication ahead of time. Unfortunately, we will not be able to help you with the troubleshooting.)

All proceeds go to supporting Geordie Theatre’s ongoing season. Join us from anywhere in the world, share a fun and exciting evening, and support home grown theatre in this critical time.

While tickets to the game are pay-what-you-decide to be as accessible to all as possible, the suggested donation amount is $20 per person or $65 per team of four.

MISSION

Geordie Theatre provokes thought, fires up the imagination, and seeks to encourage and challenge our audience. We celebrate the art of theatre and its social and global impact by working with emerging and established artists from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds to create works that are provocative, relevant and enchanting; inspiring dialogue between communities, children and parents as well as teachers and students of all ages. We look to build relationships with and extend our audience through inclusive practices and by visiting far-reaching communities in Quebec and abroad. Since 1980, Geordie has been producing and presenting plays that are important to young people; stories that are uniquely related to them in a context that reflects the world around them and their personal experiences at home. They are always about fostering the voice of young people and giving them a vessel in which they are represented, listened to, and encouraged while inspiring dialogue with the adults in their lives about what they see and recognize.

WHAT WE DO

We are an award-winning professional theatre company that has presented live English-language productions for young audiences in Quebec and abroad since 1980. Pushing artistic boundaries with provocative and important stories, Geordie delivers more than 200 performances each season and reaches more than 40,000 young people and their communities annually.
