Description

The Ghost Souls retreat is a unique online experience blending Chinese medicine principles with seasonal self-care rituals. Centered on autumn's connection to the lungs and the 魄 Pò spirit—which I poetically translate as Ghost Souls—this program guides participants through practices for processing grief, fostering renewal, and embracing the full spectrum of human emotions. By acknowledging and working with grief, participants can connect more deeply with their whole selves, finding strength to face life's challenges and changes. The retreat offers a harmonious blend of meditation, reflective writing, herbal medicine, and restorative movement. These practices aim to ground participants and inspire hope amidst uncertainty.

“After a season of deep personal grief, the Spirit Luminosity series was a powerful callback to life. Paige’s skilled, layered, and empathetic approach created a beautiful, safe space to re-emerge, even in a virtual format. Sign me up again and again!”

—Karen Campbell, Spirit Luminosity participant

Peony

Owned by Paige Barnes, Peony is a sanctuary for self-discovery and care, offering acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, restorative retreats, and health consultations. Peony embodies yin—the nourishing aspect of life. Here, care is an act of devotion rooted in compassion for yourself and others.

Paige Barnes, an East Asian medicine practitioner and dance artist, combines over twenty years of dance-making experience with her healing practice. She creates innovative ways to connect people with their body's imagination and nature. In 2017, during a three-month residency at Seattle Art Museum, Paige pioneered pulse dance reading—listening to a person's pulse and translating it into dance. This exploration sparked a deeper journey into belonging and connection. She developed multiple works using the pulse as a creative source and began exploring its application in therapeutic settings. Today, Paige creates and holds space for individuals to gain greater self-understanding through individual care, retreats, and performances.

Paige holds an MS in East Asian Medicine from Bastyr University (2016), NCCAOM Board Certification (2017), and a BA in Dance from the University of Washington (1999). She has also studied the origins and applications of Chinese medicine with Edward Neal, MD, EAMP and Sabine Wilms, PhD.
