SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE
by Ingmar Bergman
English version by Emily Mann
Three nights only!
November 7, 8, + 9 at 7:30pm
Studio 133, Nelson Fine Arts Center, Arizona State University
About the Show:
In Emily Mann’s theatrical adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s acclaimed 1974 film Scenes from a Marriage, audiences witness the human politics of a relationship across several stages of life — from youth to middle age to maturity. Mann’s adaptation illuminates the universal themes of love, identity, and vulnerability that are at the heart of Bergman’s timeless film.
Presented as a studio production, Ghosteater's staging of Scenes from a Marriage strips away design and technical elements to focus purely on the actors and the text. The result is an intimate, immediate experience where performance takes center stage — inviting audiences into the raw, emotional core of the story.
About the Author:
Ingmar Bergman, one of the most influential filmmakers of the twentieth century, was known for his unflinching explorations of human relationships, faith, and identity. His deeply psychological storytelling and striking visual style have made his work a touchstone of modern cinema and theater alike.
