GIGGLEPANTS Celebrates 20 Years: A ColdTowne Special Event

In the year of our lord 2004, a small group of students going to UT Austin took it upon themselves to entertain their fellow humans with shortform improv. They would name their troupe Gigglepants, a name that sounded dumb at first but grew to become a UT institution. For the past 20 years, Gigglepants has entertained countless numbers of Austinites and produced dozens of performers that have taken their *real* college educations to work across the country.

 

7:00 THE REUNION SHOW. Every Gigglepants player we can get our hands on from LA to Austin to Chicago to New York will take part in a massive shortform extravaganza. People will win, people will lose, but everyone will laugh (or cry...from laughter). This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the coming together of so many improvisers who helped make Giggepants a UT Austin institution.

 

9:00 Bird and Friends: Cosmic Unity  Gigglepants alum Michael Bird takes the stage solo and crafts an exhilarating improv show in collaboration with the audience. The experience transcends the conventional improv show as anyone watching, regardless of number, can jump into the performance at any time – and yes, that includes YOU! Bird takes all choices made by the audience and weaves them into the show in real-time creating a fully cohesive long-form show, leading to the ultimate cosmic unity of PLAY.
