638 Christian StreetIn this class we'll learn how to use basic burlesque principles and choreography to ground ourselves, during a time in the world where this feels impossible. In this class we'll be addressing: What if we had dance practices that were rooted in the future we want for ourselves? What would those dances look like? This blend of burlesque and therapeutic dance will allow you to drop into your body, feel sexy and empowered.
Leila Delicious is a queer Palestinian and life-long dancer and performer who has been in the Philly burlesque scene for three years. With help and guidance from the Philadelphia Burlesque Academy, Leila has now made burlesque her own practice of embodied decolonization, as she considers it her own personal dance therapy. Now Leila is pursuing her Dance/Movement Therapy license to help her bring burlesque and therapeutic movement to underserved communities. She has performed across the United States and in Belgium at festivals such as Burlesque N Beyond, Cannonball Fest, Radical Acts and Mophradat. She's smoother than olive oil and thicker than hummus, she's Leila Delicious.
