Description
Lettuce is incredibly easy to grow from seed, and we'd love to encourage you to try it yourself - add to your growing plans for 2023.
I just read a report that lettuce prices are soaring, and I have been seeing very small heads (compared to in the past) selling for $4 or more at the grocery stores.
This class will teach you how to grow lettuce from seed, for those that are intimidated. I'll share with you the varieties that do best (for us) in our crazy temperature swings in the PNW (spring has been a wild ride the last few years) and the supplies you'll need. We'll have you sow a flat of lettuce seeds and take it home for your garden. The fun part about growing your own lettuce is you can get really interesting and delicious varieties that you will never see in a grocery store. There is absolutely nothing like going out to your garden and cutting fresh lettuce heads for your meal - so beautiful and delicious!
I'll share with you tips on how we keep major pests like slugs off your lettuce, how to harvest, store for maximum freshness, and even use your lettuce as a healthy and amazing addition to your gardens and tables.
