Description

This ticket is valid for a guided tour of the General Edward Hand Mansion along with admission for a self-guided visit to the John J. Snyder, Jr. Gallery of Early Lancaster County Decorative Arts including our 2026 Focus Exhibit “Lancaster's Revolutionaries.”

The Snyder Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of our 18th century bank barn with entrance through the Welcome Center located in the rear of the barn. Visitors may go to the Snyder Gallery either before or after their guided tour of the Hand Mansion. The Gallery closes promptly at 4 PM.

Restrooms are located in the Welcome Center.

Please be on the porch of the Hand Mansion at your tour time. The guided tour is approximately 60-75 minutes in length.  The Mansion contains stairs. The first floor is wheelchair accessible. For guests who cannot walk up stairs, a book containing photographs of the Mansion’s upper level is available upon request. The John J. Snyder Jr. Gallery is handicapped accessible.

Historic Rock Ford is comprised of the circa 1794 General Edward Hand Mansion and the John J. Snyder, Jr. Gallery of Early Lancaster County Decorative Arts. Our historic site is situated on 33 acres of gardens, woods and grounds surrounded by Lancaster County Central Park located in the southeast corner of Lancaster City.  This remarkable estate offers visitors the opportunity to encounter the outstanding original late-Georgian style architecture of the Hand Mansion, to experience its rooms furnished in exquisite period style while, in the Snyder Gallery, to explore a nationally recognized collection of Lancaster County decorative arts dating from circa 1760 to 1820 including furniture, portraiture, long rifles, tall case clocks, silver, and much more.
