Description

The key to guitar excellence is passion, patience, practice, and inspiring instruction! As an instructor, trained in classical and jazz guitar, Pamela Means is first and foremost committed to teaching "the way I wish I had been taught;" which means, simply, to explain what's important, why to bother practicing, and what reward can be gained from the effort. Each guitar workshop is tailored to meet and expand upon the current student or group level.

Guitar Master Class: One equals twelve? Yep! We will build and nurture a foundation for years of healthy and productive music making with careful attention to hand position and proper technique. We will unlock the mysteries of songs and chord progressions, extended chord voicing, arpeggios, scales and triads. We will also build upon our musical vocabulary, take on theory and, confidently, explore the territory beyond the fifth fret! And we will discover how one thing equals twelve things for streamlined learning of the instrument. You will create for yourself a lasting feeling of self-empowerment that comes with such knowledge and ability. Come claim and reclaim the guitahhh.

Master Classes are open to acoustic and electric players alike. Please bring your favorite, most playable, axe. Volume levels (if amps are present) will be strictly monitored for an equal playing field.

Pamela Means, singer-songwriter and jazz musician, is “one of the fiercest guitar players and politically-rooted musicians in the industry today," (Curve Magazine) with her "insanely brilliant" (Press Herald, Portland ME) and “stark, defiant songs.” (New York Times)

"When Pamela Means picks up her guitar and begins to sing, a listener doesn't forget her. She possesses musical attitude and purpose."

-  WSHU Connecticut Public Radio

"So what sets [Pamela Means] apart from other Martin-armed songwriters who are pretty convinced they have a way with poetry and angst? For starters, Means plays a snarling, energetic guitar. She's got chops - more than the other gentle pickers of her ilk will ever have. Means' voice is hard-wired to her heart: emotional, raw, angry when it needs to be, yet supple and warm as an embrace. The truth may not always be pretty, but Means is a stunningly effective messenger."

- Oregon Live, Portland OR
