A two-time Grammy nominee for Best Traditional Blues, Guy Davis is a musician, actor, author, and songwriter. He blends roots, blues, folk, rock, rap, spoken word, and world music to comment on social injustice, historical events, and common life struggles. His storytelling is crafted to create thought, underlined by gentle tones from his guitar and banjo fingerpicking. Guy sings and plays six- and twelve-string guitars, the five-string banjo, harmonica, and didgeridoo.
He has performed before the Crowned Heads of Denmark and played alongside Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Levon Helm, Dr. John, Kris Kristofferson, Buffy Saint-Marie, T-Bone Burnett, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, John Hammond, John Sebastian, and John Denver. He has entertained in 48 states and throughout Europe, Australia, Indonesia, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Canada, and Greenland.
New Song embodies the vitality and verve that made its predecessor, the original New Song Coffeehouse (1985–2008) in Bedford, Massachusetts, a much-beloved music venue for more than 20 years.
Entirely volunteer-run, we stage nine shows yearly featuring the best contemporary folk, Americana, and bluegrass performed by local, regional, and international talent. Our concerts are held in the historic Reed Room at Bedford Town Hall, offering superb acoustics in a comfortable setting.
