On August 30, join Rabbi Deborah Sacks Mintz for a live album-release concert celebrating Songs From the Beit Midrash, her third album of spiritual music with Rising Song Records. This gathering brings the music off the recording and into shared space for an evening of song, learning, and communal joy.
Songs From the Beit Midrash is inspired by the creative and relational energy of the beit midrash and the wealth of Torah it holds. For the recording of this album, Hadar transformed its NYC Yeshiva into a recording studio, bringing forth new music as creative expression emerging from a living, breathing space of Torah, Avodah, and Hesed, where study, prayer, and community meet. This concert invites that spirit into the room, transforming the performance into a communal experience.
Anchored by an ensemble of musicians from the folk, jazz, and world music scenes and supported by a community nigun circle, R. Deborah brings eleven new melodies rooted in Jewish liturgy to life. The music features a rich sonic palette of lush strings, electric instrumentals, and powerful harmonies, weaving prayerful intention with bold artistic expression.
Doors open 6:30 PM for a 7:00 PM show. Walk-ins welcome!
Presented in partnership with Adas Israel Congregation this album-release concert is both a celebration and an invitation: to sing together, to explore the texts behind the melodies, and to experience the communal possibilities embedded within this new body of work.

Meet the Band:
A leading voice in Jewish communal music, R. Deborah Sacks Mintz has collaborated on over two dozen records with a diverse array of voices in the Jewish soundscape, including three albums of original spiritual music - most recently Songs from the Beit Midrash.
Yoshie Fruchter
A multi-instrumentalist who combines a unique blend of rock, jazz, experimental styles, Yoshie Fruchter has produced, performed and recorded with a wide variety of artists around the country and overseas, including Eitan Katz, Frank London, Basya Schechter, and more.
Chava Mirel
An award-winning musician celebrated for her rich vocals, lush harmonies, and rhythmic phrasing, Chava Mirel imbues her collaborative spiritual music with themes of hope, caring, connection and inclusion.
Tal Mashiach
A prominent voice in the NYC jazz scene, grammy-nominee Tal Mashiach tours with artists such as Anat Cohen, Avishai Cohen, and Mulatu Astatke at venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Newport Jazz Fest, and more.
Blending rock's urgency, folk's intimacy, and pop's melodic pull, singer-songwriter Hannah Winkler has collaborated and toured with artists such as Ingrid Michaelson, Lorde, and A Great Big World. She recently released her debut solo album.
Sam Weisenberg
Percussionist and guitarist Sam Weisenberg has recorded and performed with ensembles across the folk world, including Litvakus, the Hadar Ensemble, and the West Philly Orchestra.
