The Henry Players were established in 1991. It is completely based on a volunteer basis. The mission of the Henry Players is to provide opportunities for community participation in quality theater productions involving both children and adults.
Description
Hairspray is a musical set in 1960s Baltimore that follows Tracy Turnblad, a teenage girl who dreams of dancing on a popular TV show. Despite facing challenges because of her size, Tracy's talent and determination helped her break into the spotlight. Along the way, she discovers deeper issues of racial segregation and becomes passionate about fighting for equality. With the help of her friends and family, she uses her voice to stand up for what’s right. The show is filled with upbeat music, humor, and a message about acceptance and change. (Rated: 10+)
