Hallingdal Plate
In this Hallingdal style class, you’ll paint a beautiful plate featuring a vase filled with Hallingdal flowers, using traditional colors and techniques. The vase motif in Hallingdal rosemaling, offers a lovely twist on the usual floral themes. You'll focus on symmetrical balance while exploring elements to add depth and detail. Designed for advanced beginners and intermediate rosemalers, this class will help you hone your skills and bring the elegant Hallingdal style to life.

Your instructor:

Bio: Jill Willems grew up surrounded by her Norwegian heritage. She was a school teacher who taught elementary art and participated in the Iowa Culture video series, where she spoke and demonstrated rosemaling to students in grades 4-8. Mentored by Vesterheim gold medalist Andrea Herkert, her beautiful rosemaling has earned numerous awards from the Wisconsin State Rosemalers Association. Jill has also studied rosemaling in Norway and is working toward a Vesterheim Gold Medal, having earned her first point toward that goal.

Rosemaling Coast to Coast

Rosemaling Coast to Coast, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized to celebrate the art of Norwegian rosemaling through a national organization that supports and enriches the artistic activities of the individual. Members study, paint, teach, and promote the love of rosemaling. The skillset is broad, from beginners to highly-skilled, award-winning artists.
