Description

Hand cut dovetails have long been considered the height of traditional Western joinery. Used for drawer boxes and cabinet case work for their great strength, they are the “show off” joints for cabinet and furniture makers.

While the full mastery of this challenging joinery takes time and practice, this class will introduce you to the basics. The first part of class will be a demonstration of the tools, procedure, and precision required. You will then make your own hand cut dovetails with tools and materials provided by the Tool Library.

About the Instructor: With 15 years experience as a professional furniture maker and a manager of an architectural woodworking shop, John Lunde is excited to share his skills and pass along his knowledge to the MTL community.
