Description

Hands-On Blown Glass Ornament Workshop

Experience the magic of glassblowing at our upcoming event at Glen Echo Glassworks at Glen Echo Park. This hands-on experience will allow teams of 1-2 people to work alongside a Glen Echo Glassworks instructor to create a blown glass ornament of their own design. Each time slot is approximately 15 minutes long, giving enough time to design and create your masterpiece.

The Fine Print

  • Expert Guidance: Learn the art of glass blowing from experienced artists. Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, Glen Echo Glassworks instructors will guide you through the process step-by-step.
  • Hands-On Experience: This workshop isn't just about watching demonstrations. You will get to blow your own glass ornament and take it home (starting the next day) as a keepsake of your experience.
  • Each team will create ONE (1) ornament. For example, a team of two would create one shared piece.
  • The cost is $55 per experience and ornament, not per person. I.E., two people signed up together will cost $55 as only one ornament is made. If two people would like to each create their own ornament at the same time, we suggest each participant sign up for their own slot individually.
  • Participants must be at least 10 years old, and all participants under the age of 16 must work alongside a parent or guardian. Any participants under the age of 18 require parental consent.
  • Information for ALL participants and agreement to a waiver/liability form is required when registering for this experience. You cannot participate without completing this form.
  • Sign-ups are available in advance or at the door, if available, through this listing.
  • Due to the limited capacity per time slot, only one registration is permitted per transaction.
  • Participants are asked to come 10 minutes before the start of their time slot in order to check-in and receive a safety briefing.
  • For the safety of everyone, Glen Echo Glassworks may limit the number of people permitted within the studio at any given time.
  • All participants must wear closed toed shoes.

Ornaments will be available for pick up starting on Sunday, December 8th at 12 pm in the Popcorn Gallery.

Location

This activity is located in Glen Echo Glassworks' studio in the Caretaker's Cottage. The studio is located down the hill from the Carousel and Crystal Pool facade.
