You are invited to join a weekly gathering focused on building a community dedicated to the practice and study of traditional Hatha Yoga and Vedanta Philosophy, as taught by Swami Sivananda (1887–1963) and his disciple Swami Vishnu-Devananda (1927–1993). Following the wisdom of the Vedas (ancient yoga scriptures) and the Five Points of Yoga, we will work on strengthening our physical, mental, emotional, and energetic well-being. Together, we aim to expand our knowledge, discover purpose, and rise to the challenges of modern life.
This workshop is weekly and is led by Patricia Vernhes.
About Patricia
Patricia Vernhes has been on a path of research, study, teaching, and consulting in Yoga & Ayurveda, Reiki, Native American Energy Medicine, Eastern European and Mongolian Medicine, Sound Therapy and Binaural Acoustics, as well as many other release and shift techniques for body, mind, and spirit for over 20 years. A Sivananda Hatha Yoga teacher under Swami Brahmananda and a disciple of Dr Marc Halpern of California College of Ayurveda, she is a certified Ayurveda Yoga Therapist and a Reiki Master in the lineage of Usui Reiki Ryoho. Following in the footsteps of her ancestors – medicine women and herbalists in Eastern Europe – this path allowed her to formulate an intuitive approach which draws from many schools so she can guide her clients in a unique healing experience.
Twelve years ago, Patricia settled near Joshua Tree in the Mojave Desert of California. In her own words, “I left the society to find my true role in the world as a human being through the deepening of my Yogic path in devotion, silence, and solitude. The result of this life-changing journey laid foundation to a practice of service to others, daily study, and tapping into my own field of transcendental creativity.”
With its multi-venue performing and visual arts centers located in Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley, California, the Hi-Desert Cultural Center (HDCC) has been serving as the regional performing and visual arts organization and arts agency for the Joshua Tree National Park region for more than half a century. The Cultural Center owns and operates its own performance venues and facilities and produces award-winning community and professional live theater, concerts, art exhibits and galleries, festivals, the Joshua Tree Philharmonic symphony orchestra, a master chorus, an extensive educational arts and technology program for youth and adults, and more. The Cultural Center is the largest and oldest non-profit performing and visual arts organization in the region and is recognized as an organization of artistic excellence by the National Endowment for the Arts.
