Guided step-by-step by Julia Vinson, Environmental Program Specialist and broom maker at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill,  you’ll learn the time-honored art of broom tying using natural broomcorn and classic techniques. This isn’t just a craft… it’s a heritage skill passed down through generations. By the end of class, you’ll head home with a sturdy, farmhouse-worthy broom that’s as useful as it is lovely.

It started with $600. Our father and grandfather, L.G. Colyer, borrowed that sum to buy a farm in south-central Kentucky where our lavender plants now grow. During the Great Depression, he did not have the means to make the payments on his loan, so he traveled by train to Detroit to work for two years. The money he sent home to Kentucky would save this land and begin Woodstock Lavender Company’s legacy.

Today on the farm, we infuse our love of agriculture, our love of family and our love of our land into a rejuvenating home, body and kitchen product line. Responsibly sourced, authentic and effective, our products support fellow local growers and businesses that are making a difference in their communities. Woodstock Lavender Co. products are rooted in heritage and crafted with care. They will make you feel good about you, and the world around you.
