1010 Dale Street NorthMark Johnston, Founder and Principal of Historic Design Consulting, will lead students on an informative exploration of historic finishes in this four hour DIY class. Topics will cover the difference between varnishes, dyes, stains, and waxes on old growth wood, identifying the type of finish used on your historic home, and how to restore finishes like a professional preservationist. Students will have an opportunity to try out original materials and tools in a safe classroom environment, as well as ask questions from an expert in the field. Students are encouraged to bring photos of their home projects to be reviewed by and discussed with Mark!
