Description

Join the Asheville Museum of History (AMoH) on Tuesday, June 30th, from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the historic Smith-McDowell House, home to AMoH, for a special History Hour program: Broken Links in the Chain: Critical Battles in the Carolina Backcountry, with Craig Isaacson & the NC Sons of the American Revolution. Light refreshments will be available.

About the History Hour Program:

A study of 6 small battles in the Carolina backcountry in 1780-81 that have been largely overlooked by modern historians of the American Revolution. Without Patriot victories at these six battles, the outcome of the American Revolution may well have ended in British/Loyalist victories. Arguably, major battles such as Kings Mountain, Cowpens, the Race for the Dan, Guilford Court House, and Yorktown might never have occurred.

The outcome of the American Revolution had its birth in the Carolina Backcountry.

About the Speaker:

Craig Isaacson is a graduate of Buena Vista University with a degree in education. He is a descendant of over 30 Patriots of the American Revolution and has been a member of the Sons of the American Revolution for 32 years. During that time, he has served as Blue Ridge Chapter President and is currently Vice President of the Mountain Region of the NCSSAR. He is also chairman of the Blue Ridge Chapter Patriot Grave Marking Committee and Chapter Awards Committee. Over the course of his lifetime, he has visited most major Revolutionary battle sites, including Lexington/Concord, Bunker Hill, Valley Forge, and Guilford Courthouse.
