Description
Join us on Thursday, March 13th, from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Asheville Museum of History (AMoH) for a special History Hour program, Of Words & Water: The Story of Wilma Dykeman, with Shannon Hitchcock. Light refreshments will be available.
Author Shannon Hitchcock will discuss her children's book, Of Words & Water: The Story of Wilma Dykeman — Writer, Historian, Environmentalist, as well as her research into Dykeman's life. She'll also discuss the process of working with an illustrator to bring the woman and her contributions to life on the page. Dykeman, whose writing and efforts to preserve the French Broad River helped shape the area we know and love, was an early advocate for the environment and social justice.

Shannon currently lives in Western North Carolina where she can see the mountains every day.
