About the film: Released in 1993 and directed by Kenny Ortega, Hocus Pocus stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson Sisters. Three witches accidentally resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night, 300 years after their execution. When teenager Max lights the mysterious "Black Flame Candle," he unleashes the sisters, who must steal the life force of Salem's children before sunrise to stay young forever. With help from his little sister, his crush Allison, and an immortal talking cat named Binx, Max has until dawn to stop them.
What started as a modest box-office release has become a bona fide Halloween tradition, so beloved that Disney brought it back nearly 30 years later with Hocus Pocus 2. It's the perfect pick for a family-friendly night of nostalgia and mischief.
