Homeschool & Flexible Learning Aboard the Floating Classroom
Take learning beyond the classroom and onto Lake Norman!
Catawba Riverkeeper invites homeschool families, co-ops, online students, and other flexible learners to join us aboard the Floating Classroom for a hands-on exploration of North Carolina’s largest lake.
Students and their families will explore water quality, aquatic ecology, wildlife, and the Catawba-Wateree River Basin while learning from Catawba Riverkeeper educators. Our 40-foot commercial vessel is equipped with microscopes, water-quality monitoring equipment, binoculars, and other tools that turn Lake Norman into a living laboratory.
These trips are designed to make environmental science engaging, accessible, and fun, while giving flexible-learning families an opportunity to learn and explore together.
When: First Tuesday of every month at 12:00 PM
Departure: Stutts Marina, 571 Stutts Road, Mooresville, NC
Cost: $28 per person

The Catawba-Wateree River Basin encompasses 26 counties, 8900 miles of waterways, 5000 square miles of land and a 225 mile stretch of continuous river from Old Fort, NC to where it converges with the Congaree River outside of Columbia, SC.
