Description
This is a private event for the Homeschool Friends of ECT to visit Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine. Time slots have been created to help alleviate overcrowding with parking and mine attendance. Please plan to arrive during your 1 hour time slot, you are welcome to stay past your allotted time, our goal is to stagger arrivals. Our main parking lot is located north of the prison walls, and the overflow lot is located south of the prison walls. Anyone parking in the overflow lot will need to walk along the path behind the prison walls to check in at the visitor center. The overflow lot is not accessible. Children 3 and under do not need to be registered.
Attendees will have the chance to explore the prison yard (ruins, exhibits, interpretive panels), as well as the abandoned copper mine filled with 400 Jack O' Lanterns. All exploration will be self-guided, though guides will be available for interpretation and questions. The mine is 52 degrees and closed toes shoes are recommended.
