Description

The Museum of Work and Culture and the Woonsocket Harris Public Library will host the final program in their bi-monthly free educational series for homeschool families.

April 19th to April 27th is National Parks Week! Come celebrate our National Parks and the great outdoors with a Nature and Bird Walk led by Park Ranger Allison Horrocks. Explore the natural world of the Blackstone River Valley from the museum's own backyard! The program will begin at the Museum of Work & Culture before moving outside to River Island Park.

Participants will then move to the Woonsocket Harris Public Library, where the students will explore the Feathered Friends display, courtesy of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. From there, they will work together to create a large mosaic of the Blackstone River Valley's majestic Great Blue Heron to be displayed in the Children's Room. If there's enough time, we'll wrap up the day with a game of Bingo featuring terms found in the Blackstone River Valley. Winners may receive a prize.

This two-part program will have two sessions, each starting at the Museum of Work & Culture, and will be offered rain or shine. Families may register for the 10 am-12 pm session or the 11 am-1 pm session. Space is limited, and registration is required. Contact mowc@rihs.org for questions.
