Description
Come join us for a day of alternative firing and Halloween fun! We'll have door prizes, games, and special firing. Food and beverage (non-alcoholic) options will be available, and as always, you are more than welcome to bring some food to share!
This workshop features gas-kiln firing, showcasing traditional glaze raku and obvara techniques
Traditional Glaze Raku firing: opportunities to explore the use of glazes, naked/peel away, and horsehair.
Obvara uses a fermented liquid mixture that interacts with wares pulled directly from kiln and dipped into it. Once the desired effect is achieved the hot piece is plunged into cool water to stop the coloring process.
Both techniques are fun and produce beautiful finishes.
Participants are encouraged to bring 6 pieces that measure no larger than 8" x 8". All glazing material and equipment will be provided.
Must be at least 18 years old.
2 tickets will be available for participants 16-17 yrs old accompanied by a parent at $202.50. This will include 6 pieces for the 2 combined participants.
Tickets are fully refundable until 48 hrs before the event.
