"How I Got Over" is an interactive, Immersive Musical Experience of the Music of Black Americans including: Spirituals, Blues, Gospel and Jazz. Featuring a live band, choir and soloists, attendees can expect a powerful, vibrant and exhilarating musical performance they will remember fondly for the rest of their days!

Special guests include:

  • The 3 Divas Arlette Willis, (Jazz) - Angel Diamond, (Blues) - and Char Chaney, (Gospel) and
  • The Mark Willis Jazz Band and
  • The Tucson Juneteenth Festival Mass Choir w John Wyatt directing

ForTheLuvvaMusic parents Silk and Soul, a local band in Tucson comprised of Mark and Arlette Willis. Mark is a 40 year + music veteran. He is a Composer, pianist, accompanist, arranger and a multi-instrumentalist.

Silk and Soul plays many local venues and this concert is the first of its kind by Fortheluvvamusic, but not the first for them.

Mark and Arlette have performed with Detroit royalty including the legendary Stevie Wonder, Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, Detroit's Gospel great, Fred Hammond, Jazz pianist, Ben Tankard, Gospel Recording Artist, Yolanda Adams and Mark Kibble of Take 6. Mark has worked with The Clark Sisters, teaching at Dr. Mattie Moss Clark's Conservatory of Music in Detroit, with Dr. Thomas Bowles and Earl Van Dyke of Motown, among many others.
