How to Taste Coffee is a hands-on 2-hour workshop at Augusta Lab, led by Rambert Sin, Certified SCA Trainer.
The session is built around doing, not watching. You'll move through a series of guided tasting activities that isolate the core building blocks of what's in your cup: acidity, bitterness, body, sweetness, and aroma, one at a time. Then you'll taste five different coffees blind, fill out a tasting worksheet, and compare notes as a group before the lineup gets revealed.
The class is capped at 12 people. By the end of the two hours, you'll have a new vocabulary for what you're tasting, a better understanding of where coffee actually comes from, and a lot more fun drinking it at home.

FAQ
*Do I need any coffee knowledge? Not even a little. Rambert starts from scratch. If you've never thought twice about what's in your cup, you're exactly who this class is for.
*Do I need to bring anything? Nothing at all, everything is provided. Just show up curious.
*Will I actually get to taste a lot? Absolutely. This is a doing class, not a lecture. You'll taste more coffee in two hours than most people do in a week.
*Is this a good gift? One of the best. And honestly a great date idea too — tasting things together is more fun than it sounds.
*What if I don't have a refined palate? That's the whole point of coming. You'll leave with one.
*What if I'm running late? We'll hold the start for up to 15 minutes, but the class will begin at that point regardless, out of respect for everyone who showed up on time. Plan accordingly!
Getting here:
Augusta Lab is located in Kensington Market. Parking in the neighbourhood is limited, so we recommend leaving extra time or taking transit. The Spadina and College streetcars both drop you close by and are the easiest option.
Refund Policy:
Full refunds are available up to 5 days before the event. After that, we are unable to offer refunds due to the limited number of seats and the preparation that goes into each class.
