For unique styles and custom fit comfort, nothing beats making your own clothes! This class will walk through the basics of how to sew from a pattern, from size selection to measuring, marking, and cutting fabric. We'll start with how to measure yourself to determine pattern size, read a pattern envelope or webpage, and evaluate pattern difficulty. Then, using an example, we'll go through prepping patterns and fabric, how to lay out and true fabric for cutting, and various methods for transferring pattern markings. The class will also cover what to know about seam allowance and how to grade between sizes, with plenty of time for questions.
This is a demonstration-based class, geared toward beginner sewists who have some experience with machine sewing, or basic construction, who are not familiar with sewing from a pattern. Youth are welcome to participate with 1-1 adult supervision.
