The Hayes Project celebrates 20 years of writing and producing with a year-long presentation of new work funded in part by a Specific Cultural Project grant from the Florida DOS Division of Arts & Culture
Based on local history and influenced by the Blues, If I Had My Way, a play by Joseph Reed Hayes, looks at relationships formed by the rational and irrational tides of war, the deep-seated racial tension of the Old South, the loneliness of young souls isolated by culture and time, and hope following darkness like a dream amid the scent of citrus blossoms. It is the culmination of The Hayes Project, a year-long series of theatrical events.
