Due to our new hours @brooksmuseum, we haven't been open during iftar hours this Ramadan. Instead, we are offering some take and bake iftar meals, preorder only; available for pick-up at MBMA on Wednesdays between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The link to order will be in our bio all month long!
April 5th - Yemeni Haneeth with lamb shank. We're serving that up with fuul (a delicious mashed fava bean dish with eggs), mulawah (a delicious tandoor-baked flat bread) and some classic saffron rice.
Pre-order ends Wednesday 4/5/23 at 12 p.m.
April 12th - South Asian chicken biryani packed with carrots, potatoes, and peas served with an onion raita and curd chiles. Raita is a yogurt based dish used to cool the mouth when you need a break from the spiciness of the biryani. Curd chiles are a crunchy condiment made of chiles that have been soaked in a buttermilk and yogurt marinade over night, and left to dry in the sun throughout the day. The process imbues the chile with a tangy flavor that tempers the natural heat of the chile.
Pre-order ends Wednesday 04/12/23 at 12 p.m.
April 19th - North African chicken tagine of chicken, dried apricots, and almonds served alongside classic accompaniments loubia (a white bean stew), roasted carrots, and khobz (a rustic North African white bread). Pre-order ends Wednesday 04/19/23 at p.m.
April 22nd - We'll be hosting a big family style Eid celebration featuring different dishes representative of the major Islamic communities around the world! We'll also be running some musical performances, cultural programming dedicated to speaking about the importance of Ramadan, and information about the Islamic art stored right here in the @brooksmuseum!
This event is open to all who are respectful of the culture and interested in learning more or simply enjoying some good food! We'll be posting the menu and opening ticket sales later this week, so stay tuned!
