IMPROV 301: Improv Character Development and Storytelling

Building upon what was taught in Levels 1 and 2, this class focuses on advanced character development, storytelling, and foundational principles of long-form improvisation.

  • Students will learn a five-stage method to developing rich, three-dimensional characters, with a focus on specifics, backstory, and vocal/physical performance.
  • This class also begins the groundwork for long-form improvisational training - with a primary focus on narrative long-form structures, while also overviewing other standardized long-form improv methods.
  • After 8 weeks, class culminates in a student showcase on the ImprovCity stage for family, friends and fans.

ImprovCity has been performing professional improvisational comedy shows throughout Southern California (and across the country) for over ten years. Our shows are fast-paced, funny and interactive.  We offer both PG-13 (family friendly) and uncensored shows.

ImprovCity shows feature professional improv comedians performing short-form improvised games, scenes and songs in a high energy comedic style. And since the show is improvised, no two shows are ever the same!
